Outside the southern moat
Golden Bell Hotel stands at 50/1 Ratchiangsaen Road in Haiya, just outside the southern side of Chiang Mai’s Old City. Oyster’s inspection describes a thirty-room property at the end of a quiet lane. That position keeps the hotel close to the city’s southern food-market area while placing the entrance away from a busy through-road.
The buildings face a compact courtyard swimming pool with a whirlpool area. Oyster also recorded parking beside the property, an especially practical detail for guests arriving with a car. The pool gives the hotel a place to pause between excursions without turning it into a large resort.
Superior and Deluxe are different propositions
The room inventory lists Superior doubles and twins at 24 square metres, with Deluxe doubles and triples at 30 square metres and a pool view. Air conditioning, a refrigerator, kettle, safe and private shower are among the published provisions.
Oyster found Deluxe rooms more furnished for sitting, with sofas, chairs and glass tables as well as walk-in closets. Its inspection described the rooms as bright, with local decorative touches, but noted worn wooden furniture and little bathroom counter space. Choosing Deluxe adds space and seating; it does not establish that all furniture is new.

What guests noticed in 2025
An August 7 family report praised a spacious clean room, assistance organising tours and the pool, while finding sweet breakfast choices limited. A June 8 couple liked the Wualai Saturday market location and available parking but felt some areas needed renovation.
A May 24 group appreciated the staff and shower but found the Deluxe bathroom tight and the bed and sofa firm. A September 24 couple described a quiet base near everyday food stalls, with a walk of roughly fifteen minutes to their main Old City sights. Together, those accounts suggest a practical southern base whose comforts are straightforward.
Sources and dates
Oyster’s inspection is undated. Guest observations above are from May–September 2025. Restaurant hours and bicycle terms differ between published listings, so neither is presented as a fixed inclusion.
